Facing the era of cell phone and internet, how to use digital data with solid research method had became an important issue.

Election Study Center invited Stanford University Professor Douglas Rivers to give 2 lectures. First topic was “The Challenge of Telephone Surveys and the Future of Web Surveys”.

Douglas Rivers said that random sampling is having problem nowadays. Because lots of people already doesn’t have land phones, there would be bias in sample composition.

Douglas Rivers suggests to use post-stratification method to solve the non-random sampling problem,which employs census data to help generate better estimates.
